In the knockout phase, England always conceded first. Against Slovakia in the round of 16, England conceded first, but made a comeback, winning 2-1 in extra time. Against Switzerland in the quarter-finals, England fell behind again before finally drawing 1-1, and winning on penalties. That situation was also experienced against the Netherlands.
Against Spain, England may have to try to ensure that they do not concede first. That will put England in a bad situation.
The reason is, Spain is not the same as England’s previous opponents. They are more frightening. In this Euro 2024, Spain is even listed as the only team that is still perfect.
